Tomlinson to call for exams shake-up
In a study to be published on Tuesday, former schools chief inspector Mike Tomlinson will call for the present system of GCSEs and A Levels to be scrapped in favour of a four-tier diploma.
Students would be able to take their exams at a time when they were academically ready to, rather than at a given age.
