Goldsmith orders cot death review

Attorney general Lord Goldsmith has ordered a review of hundreds of cases of cot deaths because of fears that convictions may be unsafe.

Speaking yesterday, he said he shared the unease expressed by the Court of Appeal on the dangers of relying solely on expert evidence when the cause of an unexplained death was in dispute.
