Lords say cell search breached prisoner's rights

A high security prisoner, George Daly, received backing from the Law Lords yesterday for his claim that he should be present when prison officers read correspondence with his lawyers while searching his cell.

The lords decided the prison officers breached the European Convention on Human Rights as well as Daly's common law right to legal professional privilege.
