Where we operate, how we work

|
|
We work alongside over 2,000 locally-based organisations such as schools, colleges, youth groups, prisons and voluntary bodies, many based in the most deprived areas of the country, who are able to tailor the Awards so it is appropriate to their client groups. The Awards are open to all over the age of 14 and are practical, and non academic, with no exams to sit. No previous experience of sport is required, just some get up and go and an interest in helping others.
The Sports Leader Awards are extremely popular with organisations working with "hard to reach" and "at risk" groups and can support social inclusion agendas. Organisations such as Youth Offending Teams, and Youth Inclusion Projects use the Awards.
Each Award comprises a taught module where the emphasis is on practical sessions as well as a period of volunteering in the local community where Sports Leaders can put their newly discovered skills into practice such as assisting a local sports club, or with after schools activities.
We have formed strategic partnerships with others who share our ethos and values to help bring the benefits of the Awards to many more people. Organisations such as Positive Futures, DCMS, DfES, Home Office, Youth Sport Trust and Sport England are all current national project partners.
