Estelle Morris, the schools standards minister, announced yesterday that two city academies will be opened in London to "blaze a trail" in teaching children about business and enterprise.

Thomas Telford city technology college in Shropshire has proved so successful it is to use the money it has made to build a new school using the city academy scheme.
