Treasury launches new charity audit rules
The Treasury has published new guidance on accounting rules for those in the voluntary and community sectors.
Monday's move followed a review of the work of voluntary and community organisations in service delivery, which was completed last year.
The document, "Guidance for funders", sets out the relationship between the sectors and the government as recommended by authors of the review.
"If we are to reap the rewards of the voluntary and community sector's role in service delivery, we must improve the funding relationship between government and the sector," said chief secretary to the Treasury, Paul Boateng.
"This guidance to funders is designed to make it clearer and therefore easier for funding bodies to distribute money to the voluntary and community sector.
"I am very pleased that today's announcement means we have now fully responded to all our commitments under the cross-cutting review within one year of its publication."
