About us
We are the UK's leading charity solely dedicated to the conservation of woodland. We plant at least half a million trees every year. We have over 300,000 members and supporters and more than 1,000 woods in our care.
Almost all of our woods are open to everyone to enjoy.
We are concerned about woodland in the UK:
- The UK is one of Europe's least wooded countries.
- Ancient woodland is home to more threatened species than any other habitat in the UK.
- Since the 1930s, almost 50% of the UK's ancient broadleaved woodland has been lost.
We have a clear vision for its future:
- We believe there should be no further loss of ancient woodland.
- We want to see woodland biodiversity restored and improved.
- We wish to see an increase in the area of new native woodland.
- We want to see an increase in people's awareness and enjoyment of woodland.
