Waste Bill (Failed bill 2001/02 session)

A bill from Labour MP Joan Ruddock (Lab. Lewisham Deptford), introduced under the ten-minute rule procedure.

The bill aims to increase local authority powers to deal with flytipping.

Ruddock is hoping to follow on from her success in 1989, when she introduced a bill to tackle flytipping, which became the Control of Pollution (Amendment) Act.

That bill broke new ground in giving the Environment Agency powers to deal with flytippers.

She now seeks to extend some of those powers to local authorities by amending her 1989 act and the Environmental Protection Act 1990..
