The British Horse Society (the BHS) is the UK’s largest equestrian membership organisation, with more than 60,000 members plus another 36,000 affliated members in British Riding Clubs.

Founded in 1947, the BHS works tirelessly for every horse and rider in the UK - focusing on horse welfare, horse and rider safety, access and rights of way, training and education and providing a voluntary system of approving livery yards and riding schools to ensure high standards are met.

The BHS relies heavily on membership subscriptions and donations to fund its vital work, and has a dedicated volunteer base of around 31,500 people.
