ippr Responsible Drinking Forum: Challenges of the Strategy Unit Report

ippr Responsible Drinking ForumResponsible Drinking Forum: Challenges of the Strategy Unit Report

In May 2004, the Institute of Public Policy Research (ippr) hosted a responsible drinking forum, supported by Diageo Great Britain. The event, which was opened by the Prime Minister, was attended by over sixty leading stakeholders from across government, the police, service users, charities, local government, drinks manufacturers, brand owners, industry bodies and alcohol retailers from the on- and off- trades.

The ippr compiled a report of the event to capture the key views expressed and also to highlight actions that the collected group viewed as important.

ippr Responsible Drinking ForumDiageo Great Britain was pleased to be able to play a role in facilitating this event, and in hearing a broad range of views across all relevant stakeholders following the publication of the Alcohol Harm Reduction Strategy for England. Diageo actively supports responsible drinking. In the UK, Diageo supports: The Portman Group (founder member), unit labelling on bottles, responsible drinking campaigns, funding schools' alcohol education delivered by Tacade, bar staff training in responsible drinking (funded through the British Institute of Innkeeping in England and Wales, and ServeWise in Scotland) and our marketing code is applied to all marketing and promotional materials.
