Liberal Democrat peer Lord Lester of Herne Hill has called on the home secretary to sack his race relations special adviser.

At the weekend, Matt Cavanagh was quoted as saying it could be "rational" for a white employer to discriminate against a black job applicant if it were in the best interests of their business.
