Report exposes NHS racism
The NHS has been accused of institutional racism and failing to give patients from black and ethnic communities the care they deserve.
A leaked copy of report, seen by the Guardian, blames the Department of Health for failing to tackle what it calls "this festering abscess which is at present a blot upon the good name of the NHS".
The study, which will be presented to parliament next week by health secretary John Reid, was written by an inquiry team set up to investigate the death of David Bennett, 38, at a secure unit in Norwich in October 1998.
