DPP slams media over prosecutions
High-profile criminal cases are impossible to prosecute due to the media's clamour for celebrity news, the outgoing director of public prosecutions has warned.
Interviewed in today's Independent, Sir David Calvert-Smith QC said legislation should be introduced to end the practice of paying witnesses for their stories.
