Hewitt: We have failed mothers
Patricia Hewitt has admitted that the government has undervalued the role of mothers who choose to stay at home rather than go out to work.
The trade secretary, who is also minister for women, tells the Telegraph that the government and society should "value the unpaid work that people do within families".
"It is not our job to preach to people one way or another, it's about providing choices," she added.
