Macpherson racism policy reversed

The Police Complaints Authority has issued controversial new guidelines proposing that not all officers proved to have engaged in racist behaviour should be sacked.

Such a move would go against the recommendations of the landmark Macpherson inquiry into the death of black teenager Stephen Lawrence.

The PCA say there are other ways of dealing with the issue.
