Divorce rate falls
The number of divorces in England and Wales has fallen to their lowest level since 1979 according to figures published on Tuesday.
Figures from the Office for National Statistics show that 141,135 divorces were granted in 2000, compared with 144,556 the previous year - a fall of 2.4 per cent.
