The Independent reports that following the earlier refusal of Tory MP John Townend to sign the Commission for Racial Equality's pledge on avoiding the use of racist language, two more Conservatives have refused to sign up. One is reported to be James Cran, a Conservative whip, while the other has not yet been named.

The CRE is to publish a list of all MPs who have and have not signed up to its declaration.
