Environmentalists question need for incinerators

Environmental group Friends of the Earth is questioning a report from the Environment Agency which states that a massive expansion in the number of incinerators will be needed to cope with increases in the amount of waste produced over the next 20 years. The report recommends an increase to 69 incinerators, from the current 11, but green campaigners say that composting and recycling should be increased instead.
