Coffee Morning
Denis MacShane MP met with over 30 constituents at a coffee morning to discuss issues around the Respect Agenda on Saturday 18 March. MacShane explained that this meeting was one of a series of new events he has organised to get out and about in the communities around Rotherham to allow a conversational debate between constituents and their elected MP on issues that are important to them.
MacShane hold regular surgeries for one-to-one meetings with constituents in Rotherham Town Hall as well as regular street surgeries around the constituency.
Many issues were discussed including issues around :-
- gangs of young people on our streets
- disrespect for citizens and their property
- perceived lack of police action on these issues
- the new Safer Neighbourhood Teams in Rotherham
- public transport issues,
- free buss passes for older people
- illegal parking and better design for safer roads
- discipline in schools
- new homes and planning around new infrastructure needs
- care of elderly people
