Coffee Morning

Denis MacShane MP met with over 30 constituents at a coffee morning to discuss issues around the Respect Agenda on Saturday 18 March. MacShane explained that this meeting was one of a series of new events he has organised to get out and about in the communities around Rotherham to allow a conversational debate between constituents and their elected MP on issues that are important to them.

MacShane hold regular surgeries for one-to-one meetings with constituents in Rotherham Town Hall as well as regular street surgeries around the constituency.

Many issues were discussed including issues around :-

• gangs of young people on our streets
• disrespect for citizens and their property
• perceived lack of police action on these issues
• the new Safer Neighbourhood Teams in Rotherham
• public transport issues,
• free buss passes for older people
• illegal parking and better design for safer roads
• discipline in schools
• new homes and planning around new infrastructure needs
• care of elderly people
