Denis Macshane MP Welcomes Improvement In Local Schools Results
Denis MacShane MP for Rotherham welcomes the news that Rotherham schools are continuing to improve.
Rotherham schools are celebrating another successful round of test results and the praise they have received from the Minister of State for Schools and 14 – 19 Learners.
The Minister of State for Schools, Jacqui Smith, has praised the "excellent" Key Stage 2 results this year, and says children in Rotherham have some of the most sustained improvement in the country for English and Maths since 2002. Standards are now close to the national average in English and Maths and are equal to the national average in Science.
MacShane said,
"I am very pleased that this year’s results show continued improvement for both English and mathematics at primary level. It is encouraging and a testament of the continued best efforts of all involved to raise standards in our schools. The results mean that children in Rotherham are among those which have sustained the most consistent improvements in both English and mathematics since 2002.
"I would like to pass on my congratulations to pupils and all staff for their continued achievement.”
