Denis MacShane Meets Up With Local Royal Mail Staff

Denis MacShane MP for Rotherham met with Rotherham Royal Mail staff at the local delivery office on Wednesday 14 December.

MacShane said, “ I used to work as a postman during the Christmas season when I was a student so I do have some experience of the work our postmen and women do.  Royal Mail staff do a fantastic job day-in and day-out every day of the year but especially at this time of year when the volume of mail rises so dramatically over the Christmas period.

Recommended last posting days for Christmas are Saturday 17 December for Second Class, Tuesday 20 for First Class and Thursday 22 for Special Delivery.

The 2005 Christmas mailbag is expected to be around 2 billion items.
