MP Congratulates Local School On Ofsted Inspection Results
Denis Mac Shane MP for Rotherham today congratulated Wingfield staff and pupils on their recent OFSTED inspection results.
The school has been taken out of Ofsted "Special Measures" category and has jumped up two levels to be rated as a "good" school.
In their report, inspectors said the unusually high leap forward by Wingfield in its ratings was down to a combination of the hard work of the headteacher, staff and pupils along with the new school buildings and the good quality of teaching.
MacShane said,”I was very impressed with the staff and pupils on my recent visit to Wingfield on the opening or the new school buildings just a few weeks ago. I know that this news will further boost staff, pupils, parents and governors in their work to make Wingfield one of the best schools in the area.
The report said that Wingfield "is a good school with some outstanding features and examples of good practice".
In a letter to the school's headteacher Pippa Dodgshon, the Chief Inspector of Schools, David Bell, describes the report as "really impressive" and praises everyone for their hard work since the last inspection in March 2004.
Pippa Dodgshon, said: "We are absolutely delighted to have received this news just before Christmas.
"It is a result of a lot of team work not just within the school among pupils, staff and governors but also with the support of parents, the community and the local authority.
"The inspectors have commended us for those efforts and have given us a couple of useful pointers on how to continue our improvements and we are already taking action on those."
