In brief: MPs not trusted on MMR
MPs are trusted least by the public for information about the controversial MMR injection, a poll has found.
Published on Tuesday, the MORI survey discovered that scientists are trusted by 71 per cent of the public, compared to just one per cent favouring politicians.
For medical information, 90 per cent of those interviewed looked to the media, with 68 per cent citing television news as their main source, although two thirds of scientists admitted to have not spoken to the press in the past year.
The poll also found that 61 per cent expected a 100 per cent guarantee on the safety of medicines.
