Ken Livingstone, Mayor of London

Ken Livingstone, Mayor of London, Chair of TfL Board

Ken Livingstone, the Mayor of London, sets the statutory transport strategy for London, appoints the Transport for London Board and chairs the Board. Born in Lambeth in 1945, he has been elected to public office in local government, Parliament and London-wide government over a period of 30 years. He was elected Mayor of London in May 2000.

 


Dave Wetzel, Vice-Chair of Board

Dave Wetzel has an extensive knowledge of transport-related issues based on a background in local government and a career that has included roles with London Buses, Dial-a-Ride and the aviation industry. Mr Wetzel, who also chairs TfL's Safety, Health and Environment Committee, is currently chair of the Professional Land Reform Group and the Labour Land Campaign. He is also a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.


Honor Chapman, Board Member

Honor Chapman, Board Member

Honor Chapman works as a consultant, specialising in property research, business strategy and urban development. She was a partner and international director of Jones Lang LaSalle for 24 years before leaving in 2004 to become executive chair of Future London. In the 1990s she established Think London and, in 2003, was appointed chair of the London Development Agency. She was appointed CBE in 1997.


Stephen Glaister, Board Member

Stephen Glaister, Board Member

Stephen Glaister is Professor of Transport and Infrastructure at Imperial College London, having previously been with the Department of Economics at the London School of Economics. His area of expertise is the economics of transport. Stephen was a non-executive director of London Regional Transport Board from 1984-1993. He also acted as an economic adviser to the Rail Regulator from 1993-2001. He was appointed CBE in 1998.


Kirsten Hearn, Board Member

Kirsten Hearn, Board Member

Kirsten Hearn champions social inclusion, equality and community engagement issues, using her management, human resources and personal experience to promote the needs of minority groups and women. She currently runs her own coaching and training consultancy, and is an Independent Member of the Metropolitan Police Authority. She has also worked in local government and been a community adviser to the Metropolitan Police Service.


Mike Hodgkinson, Board Member, Chair of Finance Committee

Mike Hodgkinson, Board Member, Chair of Finance Committee

Mike Hodgkinson has over 30 years' experience in the transport industry. He has served as managing director at Land Rover and chief executive at Grand Metropolitan and BAA. In 2003, he was appointed chairman of Post Office and, in 2004, chairman of First Choice Holidays. He is also on the Board of the Commission for Integrated Transport and director of FKI, Dublin Airport and Bank of Ireland.


Paul Moore, Board Member

Paul Moore, Board Member

Paul Moore gained an insight into the needs of road and transport users in London when he was vice-chair of transport at the Greater London Council between 1981-1986. During this time he was responsible for roads and traffic issues across the city. He is currently a lay official of the Communication Workers Union and has wide experience of supporting union members. He has also spent time working as a borough councillor.

Gulam Noon, Board Member

Gulam Noon is founder and chairman of ready-meal manufacturer Noon Products and managing director of Bombay Halwa. He was elected president of the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 2002 and, in 2004, won the Asian Business Award for Community Services. He is a trustee of numerous charities and chairman of the Noon Foundation, which supports a wide range of causes. He received a knighthood in 2002.


Patrick O'Keeffe, Board Member

Patrick O'Keeffe, Board Member

Patrick O'Keeffe has extensive experience in industrial relations. He is currently deputy regional secretary for the Transport and General Workers' Union (TGWU), the UK's biggest general union. His many years assisting workers who require representation includes time with the Irish TGWU, the Amalgamated Engineering Union, the British Airways Trade Union Council, the International Transport Federation and the European Trade Union Federation.


Tony West, Board Member

Tony West, Board Member

Tony West has been involved in the transport industry for more than 45 years. During six years as assistant general secretary of the Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen, he helped steer the union through the challenges of Britain's rail network privatisation. He has also been a parliamentary candidate, a borough councillor and a trustee director of the Railway Pension Scheme.

Toby Harris, Special Adviser

Toby Harris has a wide range of experience in local government and public affairs. His background includes time as leader of Haringey Council, member of the London Assembly and chair of the Association of London Government. He currently represents the Home Secretary on the Metropolitan Police Authority, of which he was the first chair, and also manages his own public affairs consultancy. He was made a life peer in 1998.


Bryan Heiser, Special Adviser

Bryan Heiser, Special Adviser

Bryan Heiser is a long-term wheelchair user who advises the Board on accessibility issues faced by older people and passengers with mobility impairments. He formerly chaired the London Accessible Transport Alliance, a consortium of organisations representing older and disabled people. Its manifesto, which is endorsed by the Mayor, is to campaign for a fully accessible public transport system in the Capital.


Murziline Parchment, Special Adviser

Murziline Parchment, Special Adviser

Murziline Parchment is a director in the Mayor's Office. Previously, she worked as a lawyer at Denton Wilde Sapte, specialising in administrative, local government and planning law. Advising the Mayor on transport projects, policy and its application is central to her work which, in turn, informs her role on the TfL Board. She is also a trustee of the City Parochial Foundation.



Lynn Sloman, Special Adviser

Lynn Sloman, Special Adviser

Lynn Sloman is a partner at Transport for Quality of Life, working with public and voluntary-sector bodies to develop sustainable transport policies and practices. She is a visiting fellow at the University of Westminster Transport Studies Group and a Board member of the government body, Cycling England. She has also researched environmental policy and was assistant director of environmental organisation Transport 2000 from 1992-2002.
