Who we are and what we do

English Partnerships is the national regeneration agency, helping the Government to support high quality sustainable growth in England.

How we do it

• We develop our own portfolio of strategic sites;
  
• We act as the Government’s specialist advisor on brownfield land;
  
• We make sure that surplus Government land is used to support wider Government objectives, especially the implementation of the Sustainable Communities Plan;
  
• We help to create communities where people can afford to live and where people want to live; and
  
• We support the Urban Renaissance by improving the quality of our towns and cities.
  

How we operate

• We always work in partnership with the public and private sectors.
  
• We insist on the highest standards of design, construction and environmental sustainability.
  
• We act as a catalyst for development, involved at an early stage to prepare sites for development by our public and private sector partners, e.g. land acquisition, site assembly, land remediation and masterplanning.
  
• We devise and encourage innovative methods of dealing with difficult problems.
  
• We actively engage with the local community at the earliest possible stage.
  

How we add value

• We bring experience, expertise and skills, particularly in masterplanning, land remediation and regeneration.
  
• We use our widespread land holdings to work with national partners for the benefit of the country as a whole.
  
• We take a long-term view for the long-term benefit of the local community.
  
• We have the scale and resources to work on large and often difficult projects.
  
• We bring considerable funding at an early stage to prepare difficult sites for the market.
