The Membership Commitment
Membership of Business in the Community is a commitment to action and to the continual improvement of their company's impact on society. Companies join Business in the Community because they recognise the value of integrating policy and practice and the internal dialogue this prompts. In addition, membership provides a unique platform for collaborative action and dialogue to identify and address key challenges facing business and society, as well as an opportunity to connect with our network of international partners too.
Membership for companies
Membership is open to companies and organisations of all sizes and sectors that are prepared to make the three commitments:
- To integrate responsible business practice throughout the business – work with Business in the Community to benchmark your company’s commitment to responsible business practice, with a range of products and services developed with members to improve business practices.
- To impact through collaborative action to tackle disadvantage – Use your membership of Business in the Community to work with other members to achieve maximum impact in tackling issues with the most disadvantaged communities.
- To inspire innovate and lead by sharing learning and experience – Membership provides access to easy and effective ways to communicate your company’s commitment to responsible business practice. It not only inspires people in your company but it is key to inspiring others.
Together our member companies employ over 15.7 million people across 200 countries. In the UK, our members employ over 1 in 5 of the private sector workforce. In addition to our membership, we work with another 1,600 companies across the UK. Business in the Community has 400 employees across ten regions (48 offices) in the UK, with headquarters in Hackney, London.
Membership for non-company organisations
Membership is open to non-company organisations who are concerned with the issues of responsible business practice. This would include government bodies, non-governmental organisations, academic institutions, foundations and trade associations. Non-company organisations enjoy the same benefits and make the same membership commitments as company members.
