British Youth Council (BYC)
Welcome to the British Youth Council's ePolitix website, providing up-to-date information about our policy and campaigning work and access to our key briefings, press releases and policy research. We hope it will be useful for MP's and peers, researchers, civil servants and public bodies with an interest in youth affairs.
Founded in 1948, we are a unique coalition of 150 youth organisations and a network of over 700 local youth councils, representing approximately 4-5 million young people, under the age of 26.
We are the national youth council and represent and involve young people in the UK. Run by young people for young people, we aim to provide a recognised and effective voice for them, promoting their views to government and decision-makers at a local, national,
European and international level. This includes membership of the
European Youth Forum and the
Commonwealth Forum
We promote the active citizenship of young people and work to ensure that they are more involved in decisions about their lives and advance their participation in civil society.
