Minister breaks ranks over householder protection
Home Office minister Paul Goggins has broken ranks in the row over householder protection laws and declared that "burglars have no rights".
The government's top lawyer had previously insisted that burglars need protection from their victims when they break into homes, but yesterday Goggins said: "The burglar has no rights, the burglar is in the wrong."
The comments come as Tony Blair continued to refuse to strengthen laws in favour of householders.
