Richard Granger, the civil servant who has masterminded the NHS IT contracts, has warned that the new government information supremo will lack sufficient power to ensure past mistakes are not repeated.

Like his predecessor, the replacement for e-envoy Andrew Pinder will have "influence" but lack direct control, he has suggested.
