Students shun traditional science

Students are favouring "sexy" low-grade science courses that will not lead to employment, the government has been warned.

In a report to the Department for Education and Skills, the Sector Skills Council for Science, Engineering and Manufacturing - an advisory body - warned that "more fashionable" forensic science courses are replacing those of chemistry, physics and biology.
