Britain's happiest workers do vocational jobs, according to new research.

Hairdressers, plumbers and care assistants said they were "extremely happy" in their jobs, according to a study for the City and Guilds.

Just nine per cent of white collar workers gave a similar response.

Working in politics didn't make it into the top 20 jobs.
