Unions to get government cash

Union will be given public money to recruit members, under government plans.

Ministers faced claims of buying off their union critics after it was revealed that millions of pounds will be made available as part of the Employment Relations Bill.

The bill will also include a return to the workplace ballot for strike action to be passed by a simple show of hands.

Ministers say the funding will allow unions to widen the scope of who they recruit and encourage them to modernise.
