Taxpayers to foot EU students bill

The £900 million bill for tuition fees of European Union students at universities in England will be paid by the taxpayer.

The Department for Education and Skills confirmed yesterday that students from other EU countries will benefit from the government's reforms.

They will pay tuition fees of up to £3,000 a year only once they have graduated.
