Blunkett targets underage drinkers

Home secretary David Blunkett has warned the drinks industry to cut down on underage sales or face "draconian action" on the sale and availability of alcohol.

The government's new alcohol strategy, to be published next month, is expected to identify binge drinking by young teenagers as a major factor in anti-social behaviour.

Meanwhile, the British Medical Association has warned that the forthcoming declassification of cannabis will send out "all the wrong messages" to young people.
