Speaking to the FT, employment minister Gerry Sutcliffe has warned that the government could highlight industries which face repeated allegations of abusing working hours.

The move is seen as an attempt to pre-empt European commissioner Anna Diamontopoulou, who has accused British firms of abusing the EU working time directive.
