A High Court judge criticised by David Blunkett for over-ruling the Home Office's tough asylum policies has hit back at the government.

Mr Justice Collins told a legal magazine that the home secretary has been "rushing through" solutions to the "immigration problem".

He said Blunkett's reaction to unfavourable court rulings showed a "regrettable failure to appreciate the constitutional position".
