Greenpeace staged a protest at the building site for the new Home Office headquarters yesterday, claiming that wood from one of the world's most endangered rainforests is being used in its construction.

Meanwhile, it has emerged that the current Home Office headquarters will receive an overhaul costing £100 million before the Lord Chancellor's Department moves into the building in 2005.
