Almost 2000 war veterans who claim to suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder lost their court battle for compensation yesterday.

The veterans had accused the Ministry of Defence of failing to prepare them for the "horrors of war".

However the High Court concluded that there had been no "systemic failure on the part of the MoD".
