Home Office letters go unanswered

The Home Office is Whitehall's worst department at dealing with MPs' letters - 810 requests have gone unanswered after six months.

A target to respond within 15 days has been missed and 2000 letters remained unanswered for between one and six months - most delays were correspondence relating to immigration issues.

The Home Office received 26,769 letters from MPs in the last parliamentary session.
