Foreign firms to cut NHS waiting lists
Alan Milburn will has invited overseas private healthcare companies to assist in cutting NHS waiting lists.
The health secretary formally opened bidding from foreign private firms for 11 dedicated surgery units. Ministers hope that privately-run clinics carrying out routine surgery and diagnostic tests will cut NHS waiting times by providing as extra 250,000 operations a year.
