Minimum wage 'set too low'

A leading member of the government's low pay commission has claimed that the national minimum wage was set too low when it was introduced three years ago because of poor official information.

David Metcalf, professor of industrial relations at the LSE, said the commission was "badly let down by the Office for National Statistics".
