Education watchdog turns up heat on failing schools

The education watchdog Ofsted is set to order tough action against 500 primary and secondary schools that have "serious weaknesses".

The schools will face further inspections within six to eight months.

David Bell, the chief inspector of schools, also warned that rising levels of poor behaviour by children were threatening efforts to improve performance.
