Official casualty figures disputed
Government claims that casualty waiting time are falling have been contradicted by a British Medical Association survey.
Official figures show that nearly 80 per cent of patients wait less than four hours in accident and emergency departments.
But a BMA poll of consultants found casualties waiting over 24 hours in one in five hospitals, and that half the 160 surveyed A and E departments failed the four hour target.
