The minimum wage - set at £4.20 an hour - forces low paid workers to live on society's margins in the country's high-priced capital city, the chairman of the low pay commission has warned.

Adair Turner - a former CBI chief - found that during workplace visits "you became aware of people whose standard of living puts them on the margins of society in London".
