Government rules out Tory anti-trade union law repeal
Speaking at the TUC conference in Blackpool yesterday, employment relations minister Alan Johnson dismissed calls to repeal Thatcher era trade union laws.
Mick Leahy, leader of the main steel union, the ISTC, claimed yesterday that the government's failure to address Britain's pensions crisis could undermine its popular support in the same way the poll tax did for the Tories.
