Children to be taught by untrained teachers
Thousands of children will be taught by untrained teachers when the new school year starts next week.
Latest figures show that the number of unqualified teachers has risen to 7000 - up from 2300 in 1997.
Phil Willis, education spokesman for the Liberal Democrats, said: "Schools are being forced to make decisions on whether they should have qualified teachers and huge class sizes or unqualified teachers and smaller classes."
