Hewitt resists unions over employee rights

Trade and industry secretary Patricia Hewitt has rejected calls from union leaders for more rights for employees in smaller companies.

In an interview with today's FT, Hewitt said that the "starting point" for the current review of employment legislation was that "we want our small businesses [to be] able to grow faster and create more jobs".
