Plans for a new office complex to house the Home Office and prison service in Westminster were unveiled yesterday.

The new £311 million buildings will be on the site of the old department of environment buildings known locally as the "three ugly sisters".

The architect Sir Terry Farrell, whose glass and steel design been selected, is responsible for a many major international building projects. Two of his most famous British buildings were the TV-AM building in Camden and the MI6 headquarters at Vauxhall.
