Road safety groups have been left disappointed by a government decision not to lower the drink drive limit to bring it in line with many other European countries.

It was proposed that the legal limit should be reduced from 80mgs of alcohol per 100ml of blood to 50mgs. However transport minister David Jamieson said the government preferred to "maintian the emphasis on enforcement and education through publicity".
