Figures released by the home office today reveal an increase in the number of drivers over the legal alcohol limit.

Police breathalysed 15,279 drivers over the festive season, with 1247 drivers proving over the limit, an increase of 15 per cent on last year. The RAC blamed "a substantial increase in the number of young people who are unaware of the dangers of alcohol and motoring."
